Airlines that fly from London to Toronto

Flights from London to Toronto depart from Heathrow and Gatwick Airport. Air Canada, Iberia, Lufthansa, Finn Air and British Airways fly from Heathrow to Toronto Pearson International Airport. Air Transat serves flights from Gatwick to Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Terminal Information

You should arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight to Toronto Airport, with check-in desks at Gatwick Airport opening four hours before departure. Check in is available online or via mobile 24 hours before your flight or you can use the staffed or self-service desks within the check in hall. Check in at the airport typically closes 45 minutes before departure but it is important to confirm this with your airline.

Heathrow Airport

Air Canada and Lufthansa flights which are operated by Air Canada depart from Heathrow’s Terminal 2. The gates for Air Canada flights are found in the 2b section of the terminal, a short walk from the main Terminal 2 departure lounge. Within the main departures lounge you will find a number of designer fashion brands such as Mulberry, Gucci and Burberry and places to eat including Leon and Caviar House & Prunier Seafood Bar. After reaching Terminal 2b you will find Boots, WHSmith, World Duty Free and Caffe Nero.

Iberia and Finnair flights are operated by British Airways and these depart from British Airways’ exclusive terminal, Terminal 5. Terminal 5 check in is on the top floor, from here you will go through security and down into the departures lounge. Terminal 5 has a small selection of places to eat such as Gordon Ramsay’s Plane Food, Wagamama, Eat and a number of bars including the Fortnum & Mason Champagne Bar. Shops in Terminal 5 offer a selection of fashion brands, Harrods, Hamleys, WHSmith and Boots.

Gatwick Airport

Air Transat flights from Gatwick Airport to Toronto depart from the South Terminal. A choice of places to eat and bars in the lounge include two Wetherspoon pubs, The London Bar, Wonderstreet, Costa and Frankie and Benny’s.

Toronto Pearson International Airport

Toronto Pearson International Airport is located 30km from downtown Toronto and is Canada’s busiest airport. A LINK train service operates between the 2 airport terminals and the car park from which, you can pick up a rental car.

An express train runs between Terminal 1 and Toronto, a journey takes 25 minutes. A number of bus services are available from the airport to Toronto and nearby cities such as Brampton.

Within the arrivals lounge at the terminals you will find a number of places to pick up any essentials such as INK, Starbucks, 7-Eleven and Travelex Currency Exchange.

Practical Information

British citizens with a valid passport need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to Canada to ensure you have authorisation to travel. You can apply for an eTA online at a cost of $7 CAD per person which is valid for 5 years.
