Manchester Airport

It is recommended that you arrive at Manchester Airport at least 2 hours before your departure time for flights to Alicante. A number of check in options are available which include mobile app (EasyJet, Jet2 and Ryanair only), online or at the check in desks at the airport. For those that have checked in online bag drop desks are available for hold luggage within the check in halls.

EasyJet and Jet2 flights depart from Terminal 1, Manchester Airport’s busiest terminal with the largest range of facilities, shops and places to eat. A number of popular fashion and beauty brands have shops in the terminal such as Fat Face, Boux Avenue Next, Pandora and Bobbi Brown. Places to enjoy something to eat or pick up a coffee and snack include Mi Casa Burritos, The Pasty Shop, Soho Coffee Co, Starbucks and The Grain Loft.

Passengers travelling with Monarch will need to head to Terminal 2. The departures lounge has a selection of shops so you can pick up duty free bargains or last minute holiday essentials from Biza, Accessorize and Boots before your flight. Those travelling with children can take advantage of the children’s play areas which are suitable for children under 8 years old. Food and drinks can be found in Brodericks, The Observatory Bar, Café Nero and many others.

Ryanair flights to Alicante depart from Terminal 3 where there is a small selection of shops and places to eat. The shops you will find are Accessorize, Biza, Boots, Dixons, WHSmith, Swatch and Rolling Luggage. Food and drinks are available from Costa, Pork and Pickle, Trattoria Milano, The Lion and the Antelope and Upper Crust.

If you’re taking advantage of the duty free shopping opportunities at the airport the shopping bag policy allows you to take one standard sized shopping bag on board with you in addition to your hand luggage. Alternatively you can arrange to pick up your shopping on your return.

All of the terminals have their own Escape Lounge which you can upgrade to if you prefer a quieter atmosphere prior to your flight. Complimentary food, drinks and unlimited free WiFi are available within the lounge.

Alicante Airport

Alicante Airport is located 12km to the south of the city of Alicante and serves the Valencia and St Murcia regions of Spain, making it one of Spain’s busiest airports.

Buses from Alicante Airport cover Alicante, Murcia and Benidorm with a number of stops on the way. The airport is well located with road connections to surrounding towns and cities which makes car hire from Alicante Airport a popular option for those looking to explore the local area during their holiday. A number of car hire companies are located within the airport terminal. A taxi rank is located outside the arrivals terminal on Arrivals Roadway with the official airport taxi service Radio Taxi Elche found here. An approximate rate for a taxi to Alicante is €20.

What to expect in Alicante

Alicante offers a very budget friendly holiday destination with cheap hotels and food and drinks prices which are typically 50% lower than what you would experience in Manchester. Alicante offers hot summers very little rainfall and mild winters, most of the rainfall takes place in September and October. There is only a 1 hour time difference between the UK and Alicante.
