The brainchild of legendary business man Richard Branson, Virgin Atlantic Airways started life in the 1980’s with its first flight from London Gatwick to Newark. Now Virgin flies to destinations throughout North America, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Australia. Virgin, however, does not operate any flights to or within Europe. This is strictly a medium to long haul airline.
Virgin Airline offer online and mobile check-in, as well as self-service kiosk and ordinary airport check-in. You can check in online and choose your seat from 24 hours up to 1 hour before your scheduled departure time or from 2 hours and up to 1 hour before your flight if you are checking-in at the airport. You can even avoid peak hours by checking in the night before your flight. This service is available between noon and 9.00pm at Virgin Atlantic's check in desks at London Gatwick Airport.
As with all carriers, there are strict conditions when it comes to how much luggage you can take on a flight.
What’s Included and What’s Not
Complimentary meals and drinks are included on all Virgin flights with choices of meals available and drinks offered throughout the duration of the flight. As well as great food you get in-flight entertainment with hundreds of movies to choose from, TV programmes, music channels, and games. Business Class passengers get all manner of free goodies from a real bar and power sockets to slippers, toothbrushes, china plates and more. But, it’s not so bad in Economy where toothbrushes, eye masks, blankets and warm hand towels are also provided. There is a great service for kids, perfect for those long haul flights, where they get their own special fun pack, special kid’s meals and even their own TV programmes, cartoons and movies to watch!
