Singapore Airlines, EasyJet and Lufthansa offer daily direct flights from Manchester to Munich.
You should arrive at Manchester Airport at least 2 hours before your flight to Munich, with flights departing from Terminal 1 and 2.
All three airlines offer online check in with self-printed boarding passes in order to avoid having to wait to check in at the airport. Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines also allow you to check in via your phone and have a mobile boarding pass sent to your phone. EasyJet have an app from which you can check in for your flight, boarding passes are saved in the app for easy access.
Within the check in lounge of each of the terminals there are staffed and self-service check in desks and bag drop desks for those who have checked in in advance and have hold luggage.
Lufthansa and EasyJet flights depart from Terminal 1, the biggest terminal at Manchester Airport with a large number of shops and places to eat. Next, WHSmith, Accessorize, Biza and Bobbi Brown are just some of the shops you will find in the departures lounge. If you want to get a meal before your flight you have Mi Casa Burritos, Giraffe and The Grain Loft available alongside coffee and lighter bites from Starbucks, Soho Coffee Co. and Upper Crust.
Passengers flying to Munich with Singapore Airlines will need to head to Terminal 2 which has a similar choice of shops, fashion brands, bars and places for coffee or food.

Munich Airport has excellent connections to Munich and nearby Bavarian towns and cities such as Freising, Landshut and Augsburg. A car rental centre is located within the airport between the two terminals and the airport’s convenient location on the E53 means you can reach the city centre of Munich in 30 minutes. A short walk from both terminals is the Flughafen railway station with 2 lines running into Munich every 10 minutes. If you’re staying in one of the Munich Airport hotels then there are a number of shuttle buses available.

The location of Munich, close to The Alps makes it one of the wettest cities in Germany with a high level of rainfall and snow throughout the year. Temperatures can change quickly with the winds which come down from mountains.
When it comes to costs of visiting Munich you will find it similar to those you would face in Manchester with food being more expensive though you can find traditional German wurst carts through the city offering cheap authentic food. If you’re travelling to Munich during Oktoberfest you will find hotels are more expensive. There is just a one hour time difference between Germany and the UK.
