Glasgow Airport only has one terminal. There are lots of shops, ranging from electronic products (Maplin, Dixons Travel) to fashion (Victoria’s Secret, Accessorize) and beauty (Boots, World Duty Free). If you’re feeling peckish you can grab a bite to eat at Frankie & Benny’s, grab a sandwich at EAT, or pick up an on the go coffee at Starbucks.

Terminal Information - Arriving

Flights from Glasgow to London-Gatwick usually land in the North Terminal. If you’re taking the bus into the city you can catch the easyBus and National Express from here, although they do stop at the South Terminal too. If you prefer to take the Gatwick Express you’ll need to take the inter-terminal shuttle to the South Terminal. It’s often cheaper to book your Gatwick Express tickets in advance, so be sure to sort this out before you fly.

Flights to London-Heathrow from Glasgow usually land at Terminal 5. The fastest way to reach London is with the Heathrow Express, and the cheapest option is to take the tube. Both stop at this terminal. Luton, Stansted, and City airports all only have one terminal. Onward transport is quick and easy, with plenty of signposts inside the terminal buildings indicating where to catch the bus, train, or tube.

Practical Information

You don’t need a passport for UK domestic flights, although you will need to bring some official photographic ID (such as your driving license). The check-in desks open two hours before departure, and we recommend arriving at the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight takes off. Give yourself extra time if you’re flying during the summer holidays: there’s likely to be big queues at security.

What to expect in London

It’s best to visit the cash machine when you arrive in London: shops in the capital are notorious for turning away Scottish bank notes.

London can be very expensive, although there are some good bargains to be had if you do your research first. Even still, it’s likely that you’ll be shelling out extra for dinner and drinks, and a little more on taxis. The London Underground is a wee bit more complicated than the Glasgow Subway, but there are smartphone apps to make getting around a lot easier.
