Terminal Information – Arriving

Most flights to Istanbul arrive at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, located roughly 20km from Istanbul. There are several ways to get from the airport into the centre of Istanbul. Taxis are available from outside the airport. Istanbul Airport also has a service known as “Welcome Pickups” where tourists are picked up by friendly taxi drivers who are happy to give you a welcoming introduction to their city. Alternatively, Atatürk Airport is on the metro line (marked as “light rail” in the airport). This is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get into the city centre. To use the metro you will need to purchase a token (jeton). These can be purchased at the ticket desk or from the electronic machines (Jetonmatik). Another alternative is to take Havataş, the express bus service, which departs half-hourly and goes to Taksim and Aksaray. Car hire at Istanbul Atatürk Airport is available through companies like Hertz, Avis and Alamo, all of which have desks inside the arrivals terminal.
