Terminal Information – Departing
From Gatwick: British Airways and easyJet fly from the North Terminal, while the other airlines depart from the South. The Gatwick Express comes into Gatwick's South terminal, but there's a free inter-terminal shuttle which will take you to the North. Both terminals have a fantastic array of shops and restaurants, but the North Terminal is notable for playing host to three of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's outposts: Union Jacks Bar, Jamie's Bakery, and Jamie's Italian.
From Luton: Luton Airport only has one terminal. There's a wide selection of shops, selling everything from shoes (Havaianas and Kurt Geiger) to sportswear (JD Sports) and electronics (Dixons Travel). There's a nail bar if you fancy a pedicure, and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat too.
From London-Southend: Southend is a very basic airport, with just one terminal. There are only two places to eat (Lakers Bar & Restaurant and Arnold & Forbes Cafe Kitchen) and two places to shop (WHSmith and Stobart Airport Shopping duty free store).
From Stansted: Stansted Airport only has one terminal, with most of the shops and restaurants clustered around a central plaza. There are lots of great places to eat, drink and generally be merry before your flight: whether you're in the mood for a sit-down meal or a quick glass of fizz.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Alicante Airport only has one terminal, and the arrivals lobby is on Floor 0. There's a taxi rank outside. There's a second taxi rank and a bus stop outside the departure level on Floor 2. Bus C-6 connects the airport to Alicante bus station, where you can get onward transport to other towns in the region. Car rental desks can be found on the arrivals level of the terminal. You need a valid passport to travel to Spain. It only needs to be valid for the duration of your holiday. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight is due to depart.
What to expect in Alicante
Alicante is one hour ahead of London and the currency is the Euro (€). Most people in the resorts will speak English, but it's a good idea to learn a few Spanish phrases just in case. Even if you only learn to say hello (hola), goodbye (adios), please (por favor) and thank you (gracias) locals will appreciate the effort. Alicante is a lot cheaper than London: you can expect your money to go further especially on food and drink. The weather is a lot warmer, too. Bring plenty of sun cream, stay hydrated, and wear a sun-hat during the day.
