Airlines that fly from London to Perth
A number of airlines provide flights from London to Perth, all of which have one stop. Emirates flights fly from both London Heathrow and London Gatwick and make a stop in Dubai. All other airlines fly exclusively from London Heathrow, with Singapore Airlines stopping in Singapore, Qatar Airways stopping in Doha, Etihad Airways stopping in Abu Dhabi, Cathay Pacific stopping in Hong Kong and Malaysia Airlines stopping in Kuala Lumpur.
Singapore Airlines flights leave from Terminal 2, Emirates and Cathay Pacific flights leave from Terminal 3, and Etihad, Emirates and Malaysia Airlines flights all leave from Terminal 4. The airport advises all passengers on long haul flights to check in around three hours before their scheduled flight departure time. Check-in desks are located on the top floor in Terminal 2, the ground floor in Terminal 3 and the first floor in Terminal 4.
There’s a good selection of facilities in each of the terminal buildings. There are high street stores like Boots, WHSmith and Dixons Travel alongside designer shops including Burberry, Harrods and Gucci. Eating options are similarly varied with fast food outlets, high street coffee chains and more substantial fare on offer from venues like La Salle Restaurant and Bar, the Seafood Bar or Carluccio’s.
All terminals are also home to duty free stores, currency exchange desks, free Wi-Fi and computer terminals. There’s a premium lounge in each terminal too, offering complimentary food and drink and a quiet space in which to spend the time before your flight. Depending on which lounge you choose, you may also find a spa, games room and family friendly cinema room.
London Gatwick has two terminals, North and South. Emirates flights leaving for Dubai and Perth depart from the North Terminal. Check-in desks for long haul flights open four hours before each flight’s scheduled departure time.
In the departure lounge, you’ll need to keep a close eye on a flight information screen as the airport doesn’t make flight announcements. There are lots of facilities in the departure lounge. These include a currency exchange desk, internet stations, Wi-Fi access and a range of shops. Last minute essentials are available from Boots and WHSmith. Passengers can also shop for luxury items at outlets including Harrods, Ted Baker and Cath Kidston. Food and drink options include Burger King, Frankie & Benny’s and Jamie’s Italian.
There are four terminals at Perth Airport. All international flights arrive to Terminal 1. In the arrivals hall, passengers will find free Wi-Fi access, cash machines, a currency exchange and a convenience store. For passengers choosing to hire a car from the airport, there are car hire desks for companies including Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Redspot and Thrifty.
An airport shuttle bus departs from outside the terminal building and stops at a number of central Perth city locations. It costs $15* for a one-way journey and tickets can be bought directly from the bus driver. A taxi rank can also be found outside the terminal building. A fee of $2.00* is added to all fares to and from the airport.
British citizens travelling to Australia need to apply for a visa prior to departure. Two types of electronic visa are available – a free eVisitor visa available direct from the Department of Immigration & Border Protection or an Electronic Travel Authority visa available through travel agents or airlines and costing $20.00*.
What to Expect in Perth
Perth is warm and sunny all year round. In summer, from December to February, you’re likely to experience average temperatures in the high twenties or low thirties. Rainfall peaks in June and July but, generally, Perth is a dry city.
