Terminal Information – Departing
Birmingham Airport has one terminal. The departure lounge offers plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. Terminal Information – Arriving
Cork Airport has one terminal for arrivals. Bus 226 connects the airport to Parnell Place Bus Station in the city centre. It's also possible to take Bus Éireann number 249 which stops at the airport en route from Kinsale. There is a taxi rank outside the arrivals hall. Expect to pay about €20* (about £14) for the trip into the city centre. If you're planning on booking car hire at Cork Airport you'll find the rental desks in the arrivals hall. Companies offering car rental from the airport include Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Dooley and Hertz.
Ireland and the UK are both members of the Common Travel Area. You don't need your passport to travel from Birmingham to Cork. You do need to bring some photographic ID for security purposes. Aer Lingus accept driving licenses, international student cards, National ID cards (or other government issued identity), photographic health insurance cards, photographic social security cards, photographic bus passes, and photographic work ID cards.
What to expect in Cork
Cork is in the same time-zone as Birmingham. The currency is the Euro (€). October to February can be very wet and rainy. Like most of Ireland, Cork gets its best weather during the summer: especially July and August. Prices are slightly lower than what you would expect to pay in Birmingham. If the Euro is weak during your trip then a visit to Cork can be extremely budget friendly.
