Terminal Information – Departing

Birmingham Airport has only one terminal, so it’s easy to find your way around. The airport has a good range of shops, restaurants, and other forms of entertainment. Little ones will enjoy playing in the SkyZone Play Area, while well groomed travellers can grab a last minute manicure at Cloud Nails.

Shops include the usual airport suspects of WHSmith and WorldDutyFree. There are also plenty of fashion brands including Next, Superdry, and Accessorize. Peckish travellers will find plenty of places to grab a bite: there’s a Burger King, Deli Hub, Giraffe, Frankie & Benny’s, Pret A Manger, Upper Crust, and plenty more. There’s even a trendy champagne bar, Blanc et Noir, where you can enjoy a glass of fizz before you fly.

There are also two exclusive lounges which you can book into if you fancy a bit of extra peace and quiet. The Aspire Lounge costs £18.50 (if you pre-book) to enter. There are complementary snacks and drinks, as well as free Wi-Fi and a spot to charge your phone or laptop. The No.1 lounge also serves food and drink, and charges £22.50 for access.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Glasgow Airport has one terminal. Once you get through customs it’s easy to find onward travel into the city centre. There’s a taxi rank outside the terminal doors. You can expect to pay about £22 for a taxi from the airport to the centre of town. Alternatively you can catch the shuttle bus, which costs £6.50 (£4 for children).

Practical Information

You don’t need to bring your passport if you’re flying within the UK, however you will be asked to shown some form of photographic ID. Your driving license is ideal for this. If you own a smartphone you can download the Flybe app and download an e-boarding card. You don’t need to print anything, just show your phone at security.

We recommend arriving at the airport no later than one hour before your flight is scheduled to depart. Give yourself extra time if you’re checking in baggage, if you’re travelling during rush hour, or if you’re flying during the school holidays.

What to expect in Glasgow

Glasgow is more expensive than Birmingham. Expect to pay £50 for a three course dinner for two, and about 10p more for a glass of beer. Although Scotland uses the same currency as England, Scottish bank notes can be quite tricky to get rid of south of the border. Try not to take too much money out while you’re in Glasgow.
