Terminal Information

Belfast International Airport

It is recommended that you arrive at Belfast International Airport at least 2 hours before your flight to Malaga is scheduled to depart. Both EasyJet and Jet2 offer online check-in in advance with printable boarding passes and Easyjet has a mobile app which allows you to check in and then stores your boarding pass for easy access.

The departures lounge at Belfast International Airport is home to a variety of shopping, food and drink destinations. You can stock up on holiday essentials at Superdrug, WHSmith or the Aelia duty free store. Restaurants and cafés include The Strangford Kitchen & Grill which serves a range of hot and cold food, The Lagan Bar serving local produce, Burger King and Starbucks. You will also find a currency exchange desk and free Wi-Fi for up to two hours in the terminal building.

The airport also offers a premium lounge, available for a fee. The Business Lounge is open to passengers travelling on any ticket and with any airline. It provides guests with a selection of complimentary refreshments and a quiet place in which to spend the time before their flight.

Malaga Airport

Malaga Airport is located 8 kilometres southeast of Malaga city centre. All arrivals are directed to the Terminal 3 arrivals hall, situated on the ground floor of the terminal building. The arrivals hall is home to a small café and a duty free store. There are also cash machines and a currency exchange office. The arrivals hall of Terminal 3 is also the base for car hire companies operating at the airport.

If you’re spending your time in the Costa del Sol at a resort, you may not need to hire a car. However, if you’re planning on doing some exploring, having your own set of wheels is much easier than relying on public transport. Car hire companies at the airport include Hertz, Avis, Goldcar, Europcar, Sixt, Enterprise and Record Go.

Alternatively, if you’re choosing to get around by public transport, there are a variety of options from the airport. Line C1 of the Renfe train network runs to and from Terminal 3. Trains run to a number of popular destinations including Malaga city centre, Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola and a one-way ticket will cost between €1.70* and €2.60*.

Lots of local buses also stop at the airport. The most direct bus heading to Malaga city centre is the A Express Airport bus (Line 75) which costs €3*. Tickets can be bought direct from the driver and the journey takes around 15 minutes.

Taxis are also available from the airport and work on a meter system. It’s worth noting that journeys to and from the airport are subject to a €5.50* supplement.

What to Expect in Malaga

Prices in Malaga, particularly if you manage to avoid tourist hot spots, are much cheaper than in Belfast. Visitors can expect to pay €30.00* for a mid-range three course meal for two, €2.50* for a bottle of beer and just €1.30* for the average one-way journey on public transport.

Malaga has a warm and sunny climate with long summers and mild winters. Temperatures reach the low thirties during summer months and rarely drop into single figures even in winter months.
