Terminal Information – Departing

This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.

From Don Mueang: Flights to Krabi leave from the Domestic Terminal. The terminal is very basic, with a couple of Thai and Western eateries as well as a gift shop and book shop. We recommend making sure your Kindle is fully charged as otherwise it could be a very long (and boring) wait.

From Suvarnabhumi: Domestic check in is located on the airport's fourth floor. Your departure area will be noted on your boarding card. After you've gone through security just head to the correct place. There's plenty to keep you occupied before your flight, with an array of shops and restaurants as well as spas and children's play areas. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal, perfect for a last-minute Facebook browse or checking flight details live.

Terminal Information – Arriving

The airport is about nine miles from Krabi Town and is well served by public and private transport. There's an air conditioned bus which meets every flight and runs from the airport to Krabi Town, Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara Beach. Tickets to Krabi Town are ฿90* (£1.70) while tickets to Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara are ฿150* (£2.80). It's also possible to take a songthaew: expect to pay around ฿30-50* (50p-£1) for the trip into Krabi town.

Practical Information

Foreign visitors to Thailand are required to carry their passport at all times, even on days that they're not planning to fly. You don't actually need a passport to fly domestic within Thailand, but as a visitor it's likely that you'll be asked to show your passport and visa at the airport. Give yourself plenty of time to get through security: we recommend arriving around two hours before your scheduled departure time.

What to expect in Krabi

Prices in Krabi are generally lower than Bangkok. You can expect to pay about half the price when you dine out, and beer is about half price too. The province is renowned for its natural beauty, with white sandy beaches and impressive limestone karsts. You'll probably spend most of your time getting around by songthaew (converted pick-up trucks which act as makeshift buses) or by boat, as most of the province is made up of islands.
