Bangkok Don Mueang Airport
Bangkok Don Mueang Airport is located approximately 26 kilometres north east of Bangkok city centre. Both domestic and international departures areas are located on the 3rd floor of Terminal 1. Once passengers have checked-in and passed through security they’ll find a number of facilities in the airport’s domestic lounge.
Food options include Burger King, Krispy Kreme, Subway, Starbucks and KFC. There is a 7-eleven convenience store and a duty free outlet selling cosmetics, perfumes and clothing. If you’re travelling with children, the Nok Kids Zone is a small play area located close to the departure gates. ATM machines and a currency exchange are also available.
Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is located approximately 30 kilometres east of Bangkok city centre. The airport has just one large terminal divided into concourses A to G. Passengers leaving on domestic flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport will find check-in desks located on the 4th floor. After passing through security, passengers will descend to the boarding gates and departures lounge on the 2nd floor.
The departures lounge offers free Wi-Fi, a number of internet cafés, a spa and a playground. There are also duty free stores, food and drink outlets, souvenir shops and convenience stores.
Phuket Airport is located in the north of Phuket Island and around 32 kilometres north-west of Phuket city. Once passengers have passed through customs and baggage reclaim, they’ll find a number of facilities in the arrivals hall.
There’s a tourist information desk which can provide information on local attractions, an airport information desk which can provide information about onward travel and four currency exchange counters. Buses and taxis are available outside the airport terminal. Rental cars are also available from National and Thai Rent A Car, both based in the arrivals hall.

What to Expect in Phuket
Temperatures in Phuket are similar to those in Bangkok. They’re pretty consistent throughout the year, reaching around 35°c and never falling below about 20°c. In both destinations, rainfall is minimal from December to April but peaks during the rainy season from May to October.
Prices are also largely similar in the two cities although, as a tourist hotspot, transport and eating out in Phuket will cost you a little more than in Bangkok.
