Bangkok Airways is a regional airline operating out of the Thai capital, and flies to 23 destinations across Asia. Routes include flights to Thailand, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Laos, Burma, India, Singapore and the Maldives. The airline is known for its high quality, and was awarded a four star rating by Skytrax, the airline ranking company. Although Bangkok Airways isn’t officially part of any airline alliance, they do have code-share agreements with a number of Oneworld, Skyteam, and Star Alliance members. Their frequent flyer program is Flyer Bonus.

How to Check In

You can check in online, by mobile, or at the airport. Mobile and web check in open 24 hours before scheduled departure, and close two hours before. Passengers who are boarding an international flight will still need to present themselves to the check-in counter 90 minutes before departure in order to pick up their boarding pass and have their travel documents verified.

Baggage Allowance and Fees

Passengers in all classes are entitled to bring hold baggage. Economy passengers can bring a maximum of 20kg, and Blue Ribbon (business class) passengers can bring 30kg. Excess baggage rates are per kilo, and depend on your final destination. On domestic flights a fee of THB 80* (about 31.53) per kilo applies. On international flights the prices depend on sector: for example on a flight from Thailand to Cambodia the fee would be USD $7* (about £4.35) per extra kilo, and on flights from Thailand to the Maldives the fee per kilo would be USD $15* (about £9.30) per extra kilo.

Seating – Leg Room, Choosing Seats

Legroom in economy is fairly average, with a 31” seat pitch. Business class passengers can stretch out slightly more with a seat pitch of 47”.

Booking Fees

There are no booking fees, however some taxes and government fees may apply. You will be advised of these charges upon booking.

Meals, Snacks, Drinks

Complimentary meals are served on all routes. Bangkok Airways offers a huge variety of special meals, including ‘Raw Vegetarian’ meals, ‘Bland’ meals, ‘Western Vegan’ meals, and of course meals based on religious diets such as Hindu, Moslem, and Kosher. You can book your special meal up to 24 hours before departure. Complimentary wine and champagne are available in Blue Ribbon class, while Premier Class passengers are offered a special menu.
