Terminal Information – Departing
Flybe flights leave from Manchester Airport's Terminal 3. This is a small but perfectly formed terminal, with all of the usual airport shops. There's a World Duty Free for luxury goods, Dixons Travel for tech, and Boots for last minute beauty buys. There's also an Accessorize, if you want to treat yourself or someone else to something lovely. If you're in need of refreshment there are four places to grab a bite or a drink: Costa, Trattoria Milano, Upper Crust, and Caffe Nero.
If you have a bit of work to do before flying to Southampton, or just want to relax in the lap of luxury, you can book into the Escape lounge. As well as unlimited Wi-Fi, the lounge also offers complementary snacks and drinks. Lounge access can be booked in advance and is a few pounds more expensive if you walk in on the day.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Southampton Airport only has one terminal, which makes it easy to find your way out of the building and into the city once your flight lands. The Southampton Airport Parkway train station is just outside the terminal (99 steps, to be exact) and it only takes 7 minutes to reach the centre of Southampton from here.
If you prefer not to travel by train, buses are also available outside the terminal. The journey time is longer at 35-40 minutes, as you have road traffic to contend with. There's also a taxi rank outside the airport. The driver will pre-quote you a price, so you won't receive a nasty surprise when he drops you off. Taxis can be pre-booked and paid for online via Southampton Airport's website, or you can just grab a cab on the day.
Alamo, Europcar, Hertz, National, Avis, Budget and Enterprise all offer car hire from Southampton Airport. Their desks are in the Car Hire Reception Centre, next to the short stay car park opposite the terminal building.
You don't need your passport to travel within the UK. The flight staff will want to see some photographic ID before letting you onto the flight, so bring your driving license along.
