Terminal Information – Departing
Bristol Airport is small but perfectly formed. The one terminal has everything that you need for a relaxing pre-flight experience. Shops include airport favourites like World Duty Free and Dixons Travel as well as high street fashion chains like Accessorize and Superdrug. There are plenty of dining and drinking options, whether you're after coffee and cake or a beer and burger. Cabin specialise in healthy food made from locally sourced produce, perfect if you're feeling virtuous, while Dexter's and the Brunel Bar & Kitchen offer something a little heavier. If you have some work to do before you fly, or just enjoy a bit of extra luxury, you can book into one of the airport lounges. The Aspire lounge has the usual range of complimentary drinks, snacks and Wi-Fi. The entry price starts at £19.99*. The adults only Aspire Plus Lounge is more expensive at £29.99*, but offers a bigger variety of hot food and also offers complimentary premium spirits. Who doesn't fancy a glass of Prosecco or Spey whiskey before a flight?
Terminal Information – Arriving
Belfast International Airport has one terminal, and public transport is well signposted from the arrivals hall. The Airport Express 300 is the most convenient way to reach the city centre. It runs every 15 minutes. The journey takes 30-40 minutes depending on traffic, and single tickets cost £7.50.* If you're coming back the same day, it's worth spending £10.50* and getting a return ticket.
There's a taxi rank in front of the terminal building, perfect if you're in a hurry. A cab into central Belfast should set you back around £31* but always ask the driver for an estimate before you get in the car. If you're planning a self-drive tour of Belfast you'll find the rental desks inside the arrivals hall. Remember to compare car hire from Belfast International Airport with Skyscanner to find the best bargains.
You don't need a passport to fly between Bristol and Belfast, just some photographic identification. Your driving license will be fine. We recommend getting to the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart. Give yourself plenty of time to get through security, especially if you're travelling during school holidays or have luggage to check in.
What to expect in Belfast
Northern Irish banknotes look very different to notes issued in England. Although it's perfectly legal to spend them in the UK, you might get some funny looks if you try to use them in Bristol. We recommend either withdrawing enough money for your trip before you fly, or only take small amounts out of ATM's in Northern Ireland.
