Airlines that fly from New York to Miami
A number of airlines provide direct flights from New York to Miami. There are two major airports in Miami; Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
American Airlines arrive to Miami International Airport and offer flights from New York Newark, LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy Airports. Delta and United also fly to Miami International, Delta depart from both La Guardia and JFK, and United depart from Newark Airport.
Arriving to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport, there are flights provided by Spirit Airlines and Jet Blue Airways. Both of these airlines fly from New York LaGuardia Airport. Virgin America also arrive to Fort Lauderdale with flights departing from JFK.
Terminal Information
New York LaGuardia Airport
LaGuardia is located 12 miles to the north of New York City, in Queens. The airport is home to four terminals with American Airlines, Spirit Airlines and Jet Blue Airways departing from Terminal B, and Delta flights departing from Terminal B or C.
Terminal B is the biggest of the terminals at LaGuardia and there’s a greater selection of food, drink and shopping outlets. However, both Terminals B and C have cash machines, convenience stores, fast food restaurants and bars. Free Wi-Fi is also available throughout all terminals for up to 30 minutes.
New York John F. Kennedy Airport
New York John F. Kennedy Airport is located 12 miles southeast of New York City, in Queens There are six terminals at the airport, with Delta flights departing from Terminal 2, Virgin America flights departing from Terminal 4 and American Airlines flights departing from Terminal 8. All terminals at JFK have a good selection of facilities. There are news kiosks, convenience stores, duty free stores and lots of food and drink outlets. Free Wi-Fi is available for up to 30 minutes throughout the airport.
New York Newark Airport
New York Newark Airport is located 15 miles from the centre of New York, in Newark, New Jersey. There are three terminals at the airport. American Airlines depart from Terminal A and United depart from Terminal C. Both terminals offer device charging stations, free Wi-Fi for up to 30 minutes and cash machines. There are also duty free stores, convenience stores and a good selection of cafés, restaurants and bars.
Miami International Airport
Miami International Airport is located eight miles northwest of Miami city centre. There are three terminals at the airport. Domestic flights arrive to the 2nd floor of the main terminal. On the 1st level passengers will find baggage claim and ground transportation, whilst up on the 3rd floor there’s the MIA Mover Station, which provides connections to the Rental Car Center and bus and rail services, and the Skyride Station, which provides connections between terminals and car parks.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is located 21 miles north of Miami city centre. Spirit Airlines and Jet Blue Airways both arrive to Terminal 3 whilst Virgin America flights arrive to Terminal 1. There are Ground Transportation Booths, where you can get information about travel options, in the arrivals hall for both terminals. Passengers can take taxis, buses or hire a rental car from the airport. Shuttle buses also offer connections to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Station at Dania Beach where you can take a Tri-Rail commuter train into Miami.
What to Expect in Miami
Miami enjoys warm weather all year round without the seasonal changes you’d expect in New York. Average summer highs reach the low thirties and average winter highs hover around 25°c. Temperatures are at their highest between May and October, when the climate is humid and prone to thunderstorms.
