Terminal Information – Departing
This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.
From City: City Airport is a no-frills airport, designed with business travel in mind. This is obvious through the number of coffee shops, the high-end jewellery and duty free stores, and the fact that free Wi-Fi is available throughout the departure lounge.
From Luton: Luton Airport only has one terminal, but the departure lounge has a fantastic range of places to eat, drink and relax. You can enjoy a manicure at Cloud Nails, gorge yourself on doughnuts at Krispy Kreme, or splash out and check into the Aspire Lounge located upstairs.
From Heathrow: British Airways flights usually depart from Terminal 5. This is the airport's newest terminal and is famous for its fancy shops and restaurants. Do a bit of window shopping in stores such as Chanel, Cartier and Burberry or chill out with a drink and a bite to eat. Gordon Ramsay has an outpost (Plane Food) as does Antonio Carluccio.
From Gatwick: Thomson Airways fly from the North Terminal, while easyJet depart from the South. The train station is in the South Terminal so if you're flying with Thomson Airways you will need to take the free shuttle to reach the correct security area. Both terminals are well equipped with shops and restaurants. The North Terminal has a bigger selection of executive lounges, and also has three Jamie Oliver properties: an Italian restaurant, a bakery and a pub.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Many hotels in Mykonos offer free airport transfer as part of your room price, or can arrange a paid transfer on your behalf. We recommend speaking to your hotel before you fly to see what's available. If you can't get a private transfer, you can always grab a taxi from the rank outside the airport. Expect to pay around €8* (about £6) for the trip into town, plus a small surcharge for each bag. During the summer months there's a public bus, although it's not very regular. Tickets cost €1.60* (about £1.20).
Aim to arrive at the airport two hours before scheduled departure. You need a valid passport to fly to Mykonos from the UK.
What to expect in Mykonos
Mykonos is two hours ahead of London and the currency is the Euro (€). Mykonos experiences warmer weather than London, especially during the summer months. If you visit during July, the hottest month, you can expect temperatures of 26°C and higher. During winter the temperature drops to around 9°C. Try to avoid visiting in November, as this is when Mykonos experiences most of its rain. Some things (beer, dinner in a restaurant) are cheaper in Mykonos than they are in London while others (coffee, McDonalds meals) are more expensive.
