Airlines that fly from Bristol to Munich

BMI Regional offer direct flights from Bristol to Munich. Connecting flights are available through KLM via Amsterdam and Brussels Airlines via Brussels.

Terminal Information – Departing

Bristol Airport has one terminal with plenty of facilities. There's a good selection of shops, ranging from airport mainstays like World Duty Free and Dixons Travel to high street brands such as Accessorize and JD Sports. You can pick up some snacks and light reading for the 'plane at WHSmith, or grab some last minute essentials at Superdrug. If you're feeling peckish you can grab a quick snack at Burger King, enjoy a sit-down meal at Dexter's or The Cabin, or treat yourself to a coffee and muffin at Starbucks. For a bit of extra luxury, or if you have a bit of work to do before arriving in Munich, check into one of the airport's two departure lounges. Both are run by Aspire. Lounge entry starts at £19.99* for the standard lounge and £29.99* for the adults only Plus lounge. Your extra tenner gets you a hot buffet and premium drinks in addition to the free Wi-Fi and refreshments offered in the standard Aspire lounge.

Terminal Information – Arriving

BMI Regional usually land at Terminal 2. Flughafen train station is a short walk away from the terminal building. You can take the S-bahn (suburban train) lines S1 and S8 to central Munich. The train crosses four zones to reach the city centre, so you will need to pay for the €10.80* ticket (about £7.60). You need to validate your ticket by stamping it at one of the small machines before boarding the train or you could be in line for a fine.

The car rental centre is outside Terminal 1C, within walking distance from Terminal 2. Remember to compare car hire at Munich Airport before you fly. There's a taxi rank outside the arrivals area of Terminal 2. It takes about 40 minutes to reach the city centre by taxi and you can expect to pay about €50* (around £35). Buses are also available from the airport. Munich is a sprawling city so do some research before you fly to find out which bus you need to take to reach your hotel.

Practical Information

You need a valid passport to fly to Munich from Bristol.  We recommend arriving at the airport two hours before scheduled departure time.

What to expect in Munich

Prices in Munich are much lower than in Bristol. A three course meal for two people costs just over £35* while a pint of local beer will set you back around £2.50*. Munich can be very cold during the winter, so pack plenty of cosy clothes if you're visiting for the famous Christmas markets.
