Terminal Information – Departing

Schiphol Airport has one massive terminal, which is split into three departure halls and numerous concourses. Scandinavian Airlines fly to Copenhagen from concourse C. Norwegian Air Shuttle usually leave from concourses D and M. KLM leave from concourses B, C, D, E and F. Schiphol Airport has a huge range of places to eat and shop. Unlimited Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport. There's a Servisair lounge in the Schengen area. Economy passengers of all airlines can access the lounge for £25* (if you book online). You can pay on the door, too.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Arrival terminals are subject to change.

KLM and Norwegian Air Shuttle land at terminal 2, while Scandinavian Airlines land at terminal 3. The airport's train station is located beneath the terminal 3 arrival hall. The two terminals are under one roof, and it's easy to wander between the two arrival halls. It takes about ten minutes to get to Central Station by train. There's also a metro station in terminal 3, and metro trains take about 15 minutes to reach Norreport station in the city centre. You need a three-zone ticket to travel between the airport and the city, either by train or metro. Tickets cost 75* DKK (just over €10/just under £7.85). Avis, Budget, Sixt, Hertz, Enterprise and Europcar all offer car hire at Copenhagen Airport. There are taxi ranks outside both terminals, and it's possible to pay by credit card. Tips are included in the fare so you don't need to worry if you haven't had time to visit the cash machine.

Copenhagen and Amsterdam are both within the Schengen zone, however Denmark has been implementing more border control recently. You might be asked to show your passport, so bring it with you just in case.  

What to expect in Copenhagen

The currency in Copenhagen is the Danish kroner. The two cities have a similar temperature during summer, with an average July/August temperature of 17°C. Copenhagen is, on average, a few degrees colder in winter: with an average January temperature of 0°C. Prices in Copenhagen are generally higher than in Amsterdam.
