Air Asia, Malaysia Airlines, Indonesia AirAsia, and Malindo Air offer direct flights from Kuala Lumpur International to Denpasar Airport (Ngurah Rai International Airport) in Bali. This is one of the top 5 routes from this airport, so we recommend booking your flight as early as possible.

Terminal Information – Departing

Kuala Lumpur International Airport has two terminals, KLIA and KLIA2. Malaysia Airlines and Malindo Air flights to Denpasar both leave from KLIA while Air Asia  and Indonesia AirAsia flights depart from KLIA2.

Both KLIA and KLIA2 have plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops to pass the time in while you wait for your flight to Bali to be called. Cuisine options include Indian (Taste of India), Italian (The Olive Tree), American (Johnny Rockets), and Malaysian (Grandmama’s). Of course, there are all of the usual fast food outlets as well including KFC, McDonald’s, and Burger King. There are also plenty of places to grab a cup of coffee including Starbucks, Harrod’s Café, and Malaysia’s own coffee chain Old Town White Coffee.

Free Wi-Fi is available at both KLIA and KLIA2. Both terminals have Premium Plaza airport lounges. As well as the standard airport lounges, there are also wellness spa lounges at KLIA and KLIA2. As well as internet access, snacks, and magazines these lounges also offer massages and other spa treatments.  

Terminal Information – Arriving

You will find plenty of transport options at Bali Airport, ranging from taxis to car hire.

· Many hotels in Bali also offer a transfer service.

· Arranging a taxi at the airport is easy. You’ll find a ticketing booth at the Arrival’s Terminal where you can purchase a fixed-price taxi fare to your destination.

· Cheaper taxis, known as Blue Bird taxis, are also available outside of the airport grounds, great if you're keeping an eye on your budget.

· Car hire at Bali Airport is another option, and several car hire companies operate here including Avis and Europcar. You’ll need an International Driving Permit to drive in Indonesia, but this can be arranged through the Post Office before you leave the UK.

Practical Information

You need a valid passport to fly between Malaysia and Indonesia. British passport holders do not need to arrange a visa for stays of less than 30 days. If you plan to stay longer you will need a visa.

What to expect in Bali

In terms of temperature, Bali and Kuala Lumpur are similar. Both Kuala Lumpur and Bali have daily averages of 27-28°C all year round, although Bali does drop to 26°C in January. Bali’s dry season lasts from April until September while its wet season lasts from October until March. Dry season, particularly the months of July and August, coincides with high season in Bali and you can expect prices to be higher at this time. While rainfall can be heavy during the wet season, monsoons aren’t as common as in other parts of Asia. Bali is generally cheaper than Kuala Lumpur, particularly when it comes to food and accommodation. Expect to pay around £1.50* to £4.00* for a meal in Bali.
