Eurowings and Ryanair both fly direct to Cologne/Bonn Airport from Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport, while Air Berlin and Germanwings fly to Cologne/Bonn from Berlin-Tegel Airport.
Terminal Information – Departing
This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.
From Schoenefeld: Schoenefeld Airport has one terminal. It can take a long time to get through security during busy periods, so we recommend arriving at the airport early. After security you'll find a small but functional selection of duty free and gift shops as well as bakeries, bars and fast-food restaurants.
From Tegel: Tegel has numerous terminals, but they're all located under the same roof. Most of the shops and restaurants at Tegel Airport are located in the Tegel Boulevard mall area, before security. After security, shops are limited to Relay (a magazine and snack shop) and Heinemann Duty Free. There there are one or two souvenir and clothing stores too (such as Fabriano Boutique). There are plenty of places to eat, whether you're in the mood for a sandwich and a coffee or something more filling. Choices include Burger King, Cindy's Diner, Marche Bakery and Coffee Fellows.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Eurowings and Germanwings flights usually land at Terminal 1, while Ryanair and Air Berlin land at terminal 2. Both terminals are within walking distance of each other. Cologne/Bonn Airport has good ground transportation and is served by rail, bus and car. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the city centre by S-bahn (overground) train, and tickets cost €2.80* (about £2.20). The S-bahn station is located in terminal 1. Taxis are also available from the airport, and you can expect to pay about €25* (just under £20) for the journey into the city. Car hire is available from the airport: you'll find the reception desks in terminal 2.
Practical Information
You don't need a passport to travel between German cities. You may be asked to show some photographic identification (either when checking in or boarding) so we recommend bringing your passport along anyway. On domestic routes it's best to arrive at the airport 90 minutes to one hour before departure.
