Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection and Delta Shuttle usually fly from Terminal A. American Airlines, American Airlines Shuttle, United Airlines and United Express usually fly from Terminal B. JetBlue usually fly from Terminal C. There's a huge variety of places to eat and shop in every terminal, as well as a 'Kidport' play area. Free Wi-Fi is available in throughout the airport, and power-points can be found in most of the seating areas. Ideal if you need to charge your phone or plug-in your laptop to do some last-minute work. There's an airport lounge in Terminal C.

Terminal Information – Arriving

At JFK: The JFK AirTrain connects the airport with nearby train and metro stations. Tickets cost $5* (about £3.50) plus $1* (around 70p) for a rechargeable metro card. It takes about an hour to reach Manhattan on the subway or 45 minutes if you transfer onto the Long Island Railroad at Jamaica Station. The New York City Airporter Bus runs from the airport to Manhattan. Tickets cost $16* (just over £11) one-way and $29* (just under £20.50) return. Taxis offer a flat-rate of $52.50* (just under £37) to Manhattan.

At La Guardia: Local buses connect the airport to nearby subway stations. Tickets cost $2.75* (just under £2). The New York City Airporter Bus costs $12* (just under £8.50) one way or $22* (just under £15.50) return. Expect to pay $21-30* (about £14.75-21) for a taxi to Manhattan.

At Newark: The AirTrain connects the airport to Newark Airport Rail Station and tickets cost $5.50* (just under £4). You can take an NJ Transit Train to Penn Station for $12.50* (just under £9) or an Amtrak train for $20-30* (about £14-21).  New Jersey Transit Bus 62 goes from the airport to Newark Penn Station for $1.60* (just over £1.10) and from here you can take a train to Manhattan for $2.75* (just under £2).  A more direct option is the Newark Airport Express Bus to Manhattan. One-way tickets are $16* (just over £11) and return tickets are $28* (just over £19.50). Taxis to Manhattan cost $50-70* (about £35-50).

Practical Information

Although this is a domestic route, British citizens will need to show their passport for security purposes. American citizens can use their state-issued driving licenses. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart.

What to expect in New York
