Why fly Jetstar

How to check in

The easiest way is to check-in online. This can be done using any desktop or laptop computer, a smartphone, or a tablet such as an iPad using either Jetstar’s website or app. With online check-in, you can check-in for domestic or international flights even if you have luggage. For domestic flights, online check-in is available between 48 and 1 hour before your flight’s departure time. For international flights, online check-in is available between 48 and 2 hours before your flight’s departure time. Kiosk check-in is also available in most airports within Australia and New Zealand. Alternatively, you can check in at the airport.

Seating

Jetstar's fleet is made up of the Airbus 320 Family and Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The Dreamliner tends to be used for international flights between Australia and Jetstar’s destinations in Asia, such as Singapore and Bangkok, and the Airbus 320 is used on all other routes. The majority of seats in the Airbus 320 have a seat pitch (the distance between two seats) of 29 inches and a width of 17.9. It’s possible to upgrade to seats with extra legroom when booking your flight or checking in.

Booking fees

Jetstar does not charge a booking fee for bookings made in Australian Dollars (AUD) using the following payment methods: POLi, Jetstar Gift Card, Jetstar voucher, Jetstar MasterCard, or Jetstar Platinum MasterCard. This applies to both Jetstar and Jetstar Asia flights. Debit cards are normally subject to a 0.48% fee on Jetstar flights and an AUD $8.50 fee (per passenger, per flight) on Jetstar Asia flights. Bookings made using credit cards such as Mastercard, Visa, and American Express are subject to a 1.06% booking fee for Jetstar flights, and an AUD $8.50 (per passenger, per flight) booking fee on Jetstar Asia flights.

Service on board

Meals are not included in Economy Starter tickets, but are included in both the Plus Bundle and the Max Bundle. Alternatively, meals can be purchased on-board Jetstar flights or pre-booked in advance. The menu varies depending on the flight route, but includes hot dishes such as beef pie, all-day cheese toasties, and nissin noodles. Cold snacks such as sandwiches, crisps, and chocolate are also available along with soft and alcoholic drinks.  In-flight entertainment is available on-board the 787 Dreamliner only. This aircraft is mainly used for international flights between Australia and Asian destinations including Singapore, Phuket, and Bangkok.

Punctuality

According to the 2016 statistics from Australia’s Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, 76.2% of Jetstar Airways’ flights arrived on time. This figure puts Jetstar at the bottom of the leaderboard for punctuality. Virgin Airways, the airline with the highest percent of on-time flights for the same period, had an 86.7% arrival success rate – 10% more than Jetstar Airways.
