There are lots of airlines to choose from when flying direct from New York to Las Vegas. United Airlines fly from New York Newark Airport whilst American Airlines, Delta, Jet Blue Airways and Virgin America fly from New York John F. Kennedy Airport.

Terminal Information

New York John F. Kennedy Airport

New York John F. Kennedy Airport is located 12 miles from New York city centre. The airport is home to six terminals with American Airlines departing from Terminal 8, Delta departing from Terminal 2, Jet Blue Airways departing from Terminal 5 and Virgin America departing from Terminal 4.   

There’s an extensive range of facilities available for passengers in all terminals at the airport. Free Wi-Fi is available for up to 30 minutes, there are cash machines and news kiosks. Passengers will also find a selection of shops for little luxuries and travel essentials as well as a good choice of food and drink outlets.

New York Newark Airport

New York Newark Airport is located 15 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan. There are three terminals at the airport with United flights departing from Terminal C. Like John F. Kennedy Airport, Newark Airport offers free Wi-Fi for up to 30 minutes. Terminal C is home to cafés, restaurants and bars serving food and drink from around the world. There’s also a duty free store and a range of shopping outlets. Other facilities include cash machines and device charging stations.

Las Vegas Airport

Las Vegas Airport (also known as McCarran International Airport) is located five miles south of central Las Vegas. The airport is home to two terminals. American Airlines and Delta flights arrive to Terminal 1 whilst United, Virgin America and Jet Blue Airways flights arrive to Terminal 3.

The arrivals halls in both terminals have cash machines, information desks, cafés and convenience stores. The airport’s Rent-A-Car Center is located three miles from the airport, easily accessed by a free shuttle bus service. Shuttle buses depart from outside doors 10 and 11 in Terminal 1 and West doors 51 to 54 and East doors 55 to 58 in Terminal 3. Companies based at the Center include National, Alamo, Payless, Firefly, Dollar, Enterprise, Avis and Hertz.

Taxis depart from outside both terminal buildings too. Passengers should be aware that there is a surcharge of $2.00 on all journeys starting at the airport. If you’re taking a public bus from the airport, Routes 108 and 109 depart from Terminal 1 and the Westcliff Airport Express and the Centennial Express depart from Terminal 3. A free shuttle bus takes passengers between terminals. Group shuttles and inter-city shuttles are also available from both terminals.

Practical Information

British citizens travelling to the US for tourists visits of up to 90 days don’t need to apply for a visa. However, they do need to register their journey with ESTA (the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation). This is an online platform where you’ll need to enter details of your journey at least 72 hours before travelling.

What to Expect in Las Vegas

Temperatures in Las Vegas are much higher than in New York. In the summer, the city can experience average highs of up to 41°c and, in winter, average highs of around 15°c. There’s very little rain throughout the year, although December to March tend to be the rainiest months.

Las Vegas is generally much cheaper than New York.
