Airlines that fly from London to Brussels

British Airways, Brussels Airlines and EasyJet all fly direct from London to Brussels. British Airways and Brussels Airlines flights depart from London Heathrow while EasyJet flights depart from London Gatwick. All airlines fly to Brussels International Airport.

Terminal Information

London Gatwick

EasyJet flights depart from Gatwick’s North Terminal. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport two hours before their scheduled flight departure time. It’s also worth noting that there are no flight announcements made at Gatwick Airport; passengers are asked to check screens around the departures area for information on their flight status.

Once you’ve passed through check-in and security, you’ll find a great range of facilities available in the departures lounge. There are shops for the essentials such as WHSmith, Boots and a duty free store, alongside more exclusive brands like Cath Kidston, Ted Baker and Harrods. Food and drink options are also plentiful. There are fast food outlets, a Wetherspoon pub and well-known high street restaurants including Yo! Sushi, Wagamama and Jamie’s Italian.

London Heathrow

British Airways flights for Brussels leave from their exclusive terminal at Heathrow, Terminal 5 while Brussels Airlines flights leave from Terminal 2. Passengers travelling on European flights from Heathrow are advised to check-in two hours before their scheduled departure time. Check-in at both Terminal 2 and Terminal 5 is located on the top floor. 

Facilities in both terminals are excellent. You’ll find all of the usual airport essentials including a currency exchange, internet stations, Boots, WHSmith and a duty free store. There are also designer shops including Burberry, Gucci and Hugo Boss. Getting a snack, a drink or a meal is also easy at Heathrow. The selection of food outlets includes Pret A Manger, Costa Coffee, Carluccio’s, Giraffe and Heston Blumenthal’s The Perfectionist’s Café. 

Brussels International Airport

Brussels International Airport is approximately 11 kilometres north east of Brussels city centre. The airport has just one terminal building. Arriving passengers enter the terminal al level 2. Buses and taxis can be found on the ground floor and a train station is located on the -1 floor.

In the arrivals hall you’ll find an Information Desk where you can get advice on onward travel and local attractions. It’s open every day from 6am to 9pm. The arrivals hall is also home to the airport’s car hire companies. Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Thrifty, Hertz and Sixt all provide car rental services from the airport. 

If you’re planning on taking a taxi from the airport to the city centre, it should cost around €45.00. Licensed taxis all have a blue and yellow emblem. Train travel is considerably cheaper and up to six trains to the city centre leave from the airport station every hour. Tickets can be purchased from the yellow self-service machines on the -1 floor.

What to Expect in Brussels

Weather in Brussels is largely similar to that of London. In summer temperatures can reach the mid-twenties and winters are also mild. Rain is always a distinct possibility so be sure to pack an umbrella.

Brussels is a much more affordable city than London. Whether you’re eating out, travelling on public transport or just picking up a few essentials from a corner shop, you’re likely to notice the difference. Beer in Belgium is particularly cheap with the average half litre of local beer costing just €3.25.
