Cathay Pacific, Jetstar Asia Airways, Scoot, Singapore Airlines, Tigerair and United Airlines all fly direct from Singapore to Hong Kong.

Terminal Information – Departing

This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.

Cathay Pacific and Jetstar Asia Airways both fly from terminal 1. Scoot airlines and Tigerair fly from terminal 2. Singapore Airlines and United fly from terminal 3. All of the terminals have a great range of shops and places to eat in their departure lounges. If you get bored of browsing duty free goodies and aren't hungry enough to enjoy a full meal, you can take advantage of the airport's more interesting features. Each terminal boasts a cinema and a nature trail. Terminals 1 and 3 both have spas, so you can arrive in Hong Kong feeling really refreshed. There are business lounges in all of the terminals, perfect if you want to hide away and get a bit of work done before you fly to Hong Kong.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Hong Kong has two arrival halls, both located in terminal 1. Once you get through security you'll find plenty of shops where you can grab a quick drink or a snack. The arrivals hall have another interesting feature: huge plasma screens that show arriving passengers as they pass through the buffer zone. The airport is well connected to the city centre by public transport. There's an Airport Express shuttle bus: tickets cost $100* (a little over £9). There's a taxi rank outside the building, and cabs into town usually cost $250-350* (about £22-£32). Car hire from Hong Kong International Airport is also available.

Practical Information

We recommend arriving at the airport at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure. You need a valid passport to fly from Singapore to Hong Kong. British citizens can enter for up to six months visa-free. You will need to apply for a visa if you're planning to work or study, however.

What to expect in Hong Kong

There's no time difference between Singapore and Hong Kong. The local currency is the Hong Kong dollar ($). Prices in Hong Kong are similar to Singapore. Some things (dinner for two, coffee) are slightly more expensive, while others (beer, cheap eats) are less expensive. Unlike Singapore, Hong Kong has clear seasons with a summer and a winter. It's still a very warm place to visit. January is the coldest month with an average temperature of 16°C while July and August are the warmest with an average temperature of 29°C. August is also the wettest month, so be prepared for humidity.
