You can get frequent and direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi on Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, or Jetstar Airways. The airport is separated into two terminals. Terminal 1 is for domestic flights, and Terminal 2 is for international flights.

Ho Chi Minh City Airport (SGN) is only 4 miles north of the city centre. Taxis are the main mode of transportation to Ho Chi Minh City Airport (SCN) from the city. The trip is short and inexpensive. It is advisable to give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport and arrive at least one hour before boarding time.

What to Expect in Hanoi

Flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi arrive at Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport (HAN). The airport is about 28 miles from the city centre.

To get to the city from the airport, you can take a taxi, which you'll find outside the arrivals area at both terminals. Minibuses also provide an inexpensive ride into the city. They stop at the offices of Vietnam Airlines on Quang Trung in the centre of Hanoi. The minibuses leave the airport when they are full, so timing isn't certain. City buses numbers 17 and 7 are also outside the terminals. They leave every 15 or 20 minutes. Number 7 goes to Kim Ma bus station, and number 17 goes to Long Bien bus station.

You'll find travelling from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi fast and easy. There’s no time change, and both cities use the same currency, speak the same language, and have the same tropical climate. Consumer prices are about 4 per cent lower in Ho Chi Minh City than in Hanoi.
