Airlines that fly from Rome to Milan

Alitalia and Alitalia CityLiner fly to Milan-Linate and Milan-Malpensa from Rome-Fiumicino Airport. easyJet also fly to Milan-Malpensa from this airport. Currently there are no direct flights from Rome-Urbe or Rome-Ciampino.

Terminal Information – Departing

easyJet flights to Milan leave from Terminal 2, while Alitalia and Alitalia CityLiner usually use Terminals 1 and 3 for their flights to Milan. Check your boarding card on the day for up to date terminal information. All of the terminals at Fiumicino Airport offer free Wi-Fi. The shops in Terminal 3 are spread out and are located near the departure gates. Terminal 1 has a wide array of designer shops. There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or a drink, whichever terminal you're flying from.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Milan-Linate: This airport only has one terminal for arrivals. The cheapest way to reach the city centre is with the Express bus X73. Single tickets cost €1.50* (just under £1.20). The Starfly bus is more expensive at €5* (about £3.90) but is a lot faster. There's a taxi rank immediately outside the terminal. Taxis have a minimum charge of €12* (about £9.35) and you should expect to spend around €20* (about £15.60) for a ride into downtown Milan.

Milan-Malpensa: Alitalia land at Terminal 1 while easyJet land at Terminal 2. Most of the public transport leaves from Terminal 1, but there's a free inter-terminal shuttle from Terminal 2 if you need it. The Express Train takes less than 40 minutes to reach the city centre, and is by far the fastest way to travel there. Single tickets are €12* (about £9.35). Buses are available, and tickets usually cost about €10* (about £7.80). Taxis from Malpensa Airport to the city centre have a fixed fee of €90* (just over £70).

Practical Information

You don't need a passport to fly on domestic routes within Italy. You might be asked to show some photographic ID, either when you check in or when you reach the boarding gate, so we recommend bringing your passport anyway. Aim to arrive at the airport around 90 minutes before the flight is scheduled to depart.

What to expect in Milan
