Bulgaria Air is the flag carrying airline of Bulgaria. It was founded in 2005, taking the place of Balkan Bulgarian Airlines as Bulgaria’s main government-owned airline. As of 2006, Bulgaria Air is a privately-owned company.

How to check in
Web check-in is available for flights departing from Sofia, Varna, Burgas, London (Heathrow and Gatwick), Amsterdam, Zurich, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Milan, and Brussels. It is also only available for flights operated by Bulgaria Air and not codeshare flights. Web check-in is open from 24 hours before departure until 2 hours before departure. You will need to print off your boarding pass and arrive at the airport no less than 40-minutes before your flight is due to depart. If web check-in is not available, you can check in at a Bulgaria Air desk at the departure airport. If you do not have a printer to print off your boarding pass, you will need to go to the check-in desk at the departure airport.
Bulgaria Air has a fleet of 10 planes. Their most popular is the Embraer 190, followed by the Airbus A320-200. In economy class, the Embraer 190 has a seat pitch (distance between your seat and the seat in front of you) of 31 inches. The Airbus A320-200 has a seat pitch of 29 inches. Extra legroom seats are available near the emergency exits, or by upgrading to a seat in business class.
There is no additional fee for paying by card. Bulgaria Air accepts several card payment types including VISA, Mastercard, Maestro, Diners, and Discover Card.
Service on board
Bulgaria Air offers in-flight food as part of its service at no additional cost. In economy class, meals are usually light and accompanied by a selection of non-alcoholic or low-alcoholic drinks as well as tea or coffee. If you require a specific type of meal, such as a low-sodium, kosher, or gluten-free meal, this can be booked when you purchase your ticket. In business class, passengers are usually served warm meals and offered a welcome drink as the plane takes off. Alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, tea, and coffee are also available. Aside from the complimentary magazine, “Bulgaria on Air”, there is no in-flight entertainment.
The majority of Bulgaria Air’s flights take off with minimal delay, typically 15-minutes or less.
