Terminal Information – Arriving
At Don Mueang Airport: there's a public taxi stand outside the terminal. It should cost you around ฿250* (about £5) to reach downtown Bangkok in a metered cab, although this does depend on where exactly you're going. There's also a train station at the airport. It takes about an hour to reach Hualamphong Train Station and tickets cost ฿20* (about 40p).
At Suvarnabhumi Airport: there's only one terminal at this airport, although it is huge. You can reach the city by train or by taxi. There's a taxi rank outside the arrivals hall. You need to join the queue and take a ticket. Taxis are metered so prices vary depending on where you're going. You can expect to pay about 250-400* (around £5-8) to reach the centre of Bangkok. The train is faster, especially during Bangkok's notorious rush hour traffic. You can take the Express Train to Makkasan, or the City Line to Phaya Thai. At Phaya Thai you can connect onto the BTS Skytrain. Express Train tickets are ฿150* (about £3) while City Line tickets are ฿45* (about 90p).
Practical Information
We recommend arriving at the airport at least two hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. You need a valid passport to fly from Cambodia to Bangkok. Make sure it has at least six months validity from your date of arrival in Thailand. British citizens can get a free 30 day visa on arrival. This can be extended by immigration later in your stay. If you're planning to work in Thailand or stay for longer than 30 days it's better to apply for your visa in advance. Thai immigration may ask for evidence of return or onward travel, so book your flights from Thailand before you arrive.
