British Airways and EasyJet operate daily direct flights from Gatwick to Edinburgh Airport, which depart from the North Terminal at Gatwick.

Gatwick Airport

Flights for Edinburgh depart from Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal which has two levels. The flight gates are on the lower level which is where you will find a large shopping area with Harrods, World of Whiskies, Boots, World Duty Free, Accessorize and a number of designer shops such as Hugo Boss. On the upper level you will find a great choice when it comes to places to eat or pick up some refreshments such as Starbucks, Pret, Jamie’s Italian and Yo! Sushi.

Up to 90 minutes of wi-fi is available for visitors to Gatwick Airport and there are ChargeBox mobile phone charging lockers if your battery is running low.

For a fee of £25 per adult, £15 per child (2-11), you can get entry to the award winning No. 1 Lounge in the North Terminal. Access to the premium security lane to get you through to departures ahead of the queues is included and can be booked online in advance. Included in your entry fee is complimentary food with a hot dish available together with drinks from the bar at no additional cost.

Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh Airport is Scotland’s busiest airport and handles more than 10 million passengers annually. Located 8 miles from the centre of Edinburgh, there are excellent bus, tram and road connections into Edinburgh and the nearby towns.

Edinburgh Airport is well-served by taxi services with the rank being directly outside arrivals.

Bus stands 21 and 22 can be found outside the terminal building for the 35 Service to Ocean Terminal and the 747 Service to Fife. Bus stands 1 and 19 are for Airlink 100 to Edinburgh City centre and Citylink Air to Glasgow train services.

If you want to hire a car from Edinburgh Airport there are desks for Europcar, National, Alamo, Enterprise, Avis, Dollar, Budget, Hertz, Sixt and Thrifty in the dedicated car rental centre which is a short walk from the arrivals hall along a covered walkway.

Practical Information

Photo ID is required for domestic flights in the UK and accepted documents include a driving licence, passport (even if expired up to 2 years) or a SMART car among others. Children under the age of 16 are not required to carry ID.
