Terminal Information – Departing

Newcastle Airport has one terminal. Tax free shopping is available for passengers flying to Spain. Take advantage of lower prices in JD Sports, Accessorize, World Duty Free and Cuba Lily. Airport favourites Boots and WHSmith also have shops at the airport where you can pick up a few last minute essentials, from toiletries to sucky sweets.

There's a small but good variety of places to eat and drink at Newcastle Airport. A big coffee from Starbucks is essential if you're on an early morning flight, while a craft ale at The Beer House might be on the cards if you're flying in the evening. You can enjoy a wholesome locally sourced meal at Cabin, or grab a quick bite to eat at Greggs.

Treat yourself with a trip to Aerospa, or go all out by checking in to the Aspire Lounge (prices start at £21.99*). Inside the lounge you can enjoy unlimited Wi-Fi plus a great selection of snacks and drinks, while little ones get stuck into the children's entertainment.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Vueling flights land at Terminal 1, while easyJet flights land at Terminal 2. There's a free inter-terminal shuttle bus, which is useful if you land at Terminal 1 and want to reach the train station in Terminal 2. There are car hire reception desks in both terminals. If you're planning on renting a car remember to compare prices first for the best deal. There are taxi ranks outside both terminals. Expect to pay €30-40* (about £21-29) for the ride into downtown Barcelona.

The Aerobus stops at both terminals. The express bus goes direct to the city centre. One-way tickets cost €5.90* (about £4.25). Return tickets cost €10.20* (about £7.30) and are valid for 15 days. There's also a local bus, 46, which stops at both terminals and takes a little longer to reach the city. Tickets cost €2* (about £1.45).

The fastest route to the city centre is the suburban train from Terminal 2. Tickets cost €4.10* (about £2.95). The train doesn't terminate in the city centre. Pay attention to the announcements and check where you need to get off or you could find yourself in the suburbs.

Practical Information

You need a valid passport to fly from Newcastle to Barcelona. We recommend arriving at the airport about 90 minutes before your flight is due to depart. Give yourself extra time if you're flying during the school holidays.
