Airlines that fly from Lisbon to Porto

Ryanair and TAP Portugal both provide direct flights from Lisbon to Porto.

Terminal Information

Lisbon Airport

Lisbon Airport is also known as Lisbon Portela Airport. It’s located around five kilometres north of Lisbon city centre. There are two passenger terminals at the airport with TAP Portugal flights to Porto departing from Terminal 1 and Ryanair flights to Porto departing from Terminal 2. Terminal 2 is a small terminal with reduced facilities used by low cost carriers. The terminal doesn’t have a car park but the airport runs a free shuttle bus between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Passengers are advised to check in at least 90 minutes before their scheduled flight departure time, if you are travelling with Ryanair you will need to check in online. TAP Portugal offer both online check-in and check-in desks at the airport.

Both terminals offer a variety of facilities for passengers. There’s free and unlimited Wi-Fi access throughout the airport and a selection of shops and food outlets in each departures hall. In Terminal 1, there’s an extensive selection of shops including convenience stores, designer brands and a duty free store. Terminal 2 has a reduced selection but there’s still a duty free store, a shop selling newspapers and snacks and a couple of outlets selling clothing and technology. Both Terminals are home to fast food outlets and coffee shops, whilst Terminal 1 has restaurants and bistros too, serving more substantial fare.

There’s also a premium lounge in Terminal 1. Lounge ANA is available to all passengers for a fee of €25.00. The lounge boasts comfortable seating areas with runway views, complimentary snacks and drinks, a spa and shower facilities and international newspapers.

Porto International Airport

Porto International Airport (also known as Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport) is located 11 kilometres northwest of Porto city centre.The airport has just one terminal and an arrivals hall with a range of facilities including a café, cash machines, an information desk and convenience stores.

If you’re planning on hiring a car from the airport, you’ll find can hire desks also located within the arrivals hall. Companies including Budget, Europcar, Avis, Sixt, Auto Jardim, National, Hertz and Guerin are all based here.

Other transport options from the airport to the city include local city buses and dedicated shuttle buses. The information desk in the arrivals hall can provide information on timetables and ticket prices. You can also travel to the city by metro as Porto Airport has its own metro station, part of the purple line.

Outside the terminal building, you’ll find a taxi rank. The journey from the airport to the city takes around 25 minutes and usually costs somewhere between €20 and €30. The cost of your taxi journey will be based on a meter but there is a supplement of 20% added for journeys between 21:00 and 6:00 on weekdays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

What to Expect in Porto

Porto’s climate is warm and pleasant. It’s usually a few degrees warmer here than in Lisbon, with summer temperatures regularly reaching into the mid-twenties and mild temperatures in winter too. Despite the warmer temperatures, Porto experiences more rain than Lisbon with rainfall peaking in winter months.

The cost of living in Porto is generally a little cheaper than in Lisbon. A mid-range three course meal for two will set you back around €30.00, a bottle of beer costs around €1.50 and a one way journey on public transport costs about €1.30.

There is no time difference between Lisbon and Porto.
