Terminal Information – Departing

There's only one terminal at Glasgow-International Airport. The departure lounge is small with a small range of shops and places to grab a bite to eat. The usual airport favourites are there: a World Duty Free for picking up little luxuries,  a WH Smith for magazines, and a Boots for toiletries and other essentials. There's also a Maplin, for techy bits and bobs. If you're peckish you can grab a coffee and a sandwich at Upper Crust or Starbucks, but if you have a bit more time to relax you can sit down over a meal at Frankie & Benny's or The Sandpiper. Free Wi-Fi is available for half an hour: after that you need to pay for hotspot access. Children can enjoy the soft play area while parents catch up with emails. There's a business lounge too, which is available to all passengers at a fee. The lounge offers a more comfortable space to relax, as well as a range of complimentary refreshments and internet access.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Car hire is available from the airport and is the best option if you want to get off the beaten path and really explore the island. Just remember to assign a designated driver before you head to the famous whisky distilleries. There are two car rental firms operating from the airport: Islay Car Hire and D&N MacKenzie. If you prefer not to drive, you can either take a taxi or public transport. There are six taxi companies on Islay which offer airport transfer services. It's best to book your cab in advance, as demand can be high. There's a public bus which runs between the airport and Islay's main towns: you can pick up a timetable upon arrival at the airport.
