Airlines that fly from Berlin to Prague

Air Berlin is the only airline providing direct flights from Berlin to Prague. Flights depart from Berlin Tegel Airport.

Terminal Information

Berlin Tegel Airport

Berlin Tegel Airport is located eight kilometres northwest of Berlin city centre. The airport is home to five terminals, all located within the same building. Air Berlin flights depart from Terminal A.

Passengers on European flights and using standard check-in facilities are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled flight departure time. However, those using self-service check-in machines or online check-in can save time, avoid long queues and arrive at the airport a little later.

If you need to get online at the airport, you’ll find a free Wi-Fi connection available for up to one hour. The airport also provides a range of shopping, eating and drinking outlets, both before and after security checks. Shoppers will find a duty free store as well as shops selling travel essentials, men’s and women’s clothing and luxury items. Passengers looking for a bite to eat will find cafés and fast food eateries as well as restaurants.

Prague Airport

Prague Airport, also known as Václav Havel Airport Prague, is located 10 kilometres west of Prague city centre. There are two terminals at the airport with Air Berlin flights arriving to Terminal 2.

The arrivals hall at Terminal 2 is home to cash machines, currency exchange desks, a number of shops and cafés, and an information desk where you can seek advice about onward travel and local attractions. It’s here that you’ll also find ticket offices for public transport and taxi travel.

Both local buses and dedicated shuttle buses depart from outside Terminal 2. The Cedaz shuttle bus runs every day between 7:00 and 19:00. It leaves for the city centre every 30 minutes and costs Kč150.00 per person. Tickets are available from the ticket booth in the arrivals hall, from self-service machines at the bus stop and from the bus driver. Local buses also depart from outside the terminal building. They are usually a little cheaper than the shuttle but take longer to reach the city centre.

Alternatively, you can hire a car from the airport and make your own way to your final destination. Car hire companies are based on the ground floor of Car Park C, a short walk from Terminal 2. Here you’ll find rental desks for companies including Avis, Budget, Czechocar, Sixt, Hertz, Europcar and Dvorak.

Practical Information

As a British citizen, you don’t need a visa to travel to the Czech Republic. All you need is a passport valid for the duration of your stay.

The Czech Republic is part of the EU but isn’t currently part of the common currency. Instead of the Euro, the country uses its own Czech Crown. Some establishments are willing to accept Euros but you won’t be able to manage without Czech Crowns too. 

What to Expect in Prague

Prague experiences four distinct seasons with an average of 12 rainy days per month, every month of the year. In summer, temperatures reach up to the mid-twenties, whilst in winter months, the mercury regularly drops below zero. 

The cost of living in Prague is much cheaper than in Berlin. You can expect to pay Kč600.00 (£17.00) for a mid-range three course meal for two, Kč24.00 (£0.70) for a one way journey on public transport and Kč120.00 (£3.40) for a supermarket bottle of wine. Local Czech beer is notoriously cheap in Prague and you can get half a litre for just Kč33.00 (£0.90).

There is no time difference between Prague and Berlin.
