Driving around Ljubljana Airport
The airport is just a short drive from the A2 motorway, which runs through Slovenia all the way from the Austrian border to the Croatian border. Cities linked by the motorway include Kranj, Novo Mesto, and Ljubljana itself. The road is large and fast, so be prepared. It’s a good idea to choose a car rental package with a sat-nav system to help you reach your destination.

It takes 27 minutes to drive to Ljubljana from the airport. It’s best to look for hotels in Ljubljana with car parking, as parking in the city centre is restricted. Time limits can be as low as half an hour in some areas, so always pay attention to signage. The parking meters don’t give out change, so make sure you have plenty of coins.

It takes about 25 minutes to drive to Bled from Ljubljana Airport. Parking can be difficult (and expensive) during the summer high season. Lots of hotels in Bled have their own car parking facilities for guests, which takes some of the stress out of finding a place to leave your hire car.
