Where to hire a car at Salzburg Airport

Petrol Stations near Salzburg Airport
If you hire a car from Salzburg Airport with a “full to full” fuel policy you will need to refuel your petrol tank before you return the car to avoid extra charges.
If you’re driving to the airport from Salzburg you will see a number of petrol stations on Innsbrucker Bundestrasse such as Jet, BP and OMV, the latter being the closest to the airport at the Wilhelm-Spazier-Straße intersection.
Driving around Salzburg Airport
The airport is located on Innsbrucker Bundestrasse which runs to Salzburg without using the toll roads however this can be a busy and congested road.
The A1/A10 runs around the airport and is a toll road as with all motorways and S roads in Austria. If your rental car does not already come supplied with a vignette toll sticker then you will need to purchase one before driving on these roads. Check the vignette policy with your car hire provider.
Getting to your destination

Salzburg is the enchanting city of Mozart, Christmas markets and classic music festivals, surrounded by the Austrian mountains.
Driving to Salzburg from Salzburg Airport is 12 minutes, 10km via the A1 road, if you would prefer to avoid tolls you can drive into the city on the Innsbrucker Bundestrasse taking 16 minutes if there is no congestion.
Due to the traditional city layout and narrow streets the city is difficult to find on street parking in and finding a car park will be necessary.
Cycling is popular within the city and you should be aware of the high number of cyclyists on the road.
The village of Waldring has a number popular ski areas nearby perfect for beginners and intermediates such as Schneewinkel and Kitzbüheler Alpen. During the summer there are many outdoor activities available such as hiking, camping and the Triassic Park family attraction.
Salzburg Airport to Waldring is a 45 minute, 46km drive via the B21 and the B178. A limited amount of free parking is available at the ski stations in Waldring.
The beautiful village is located on the lake with mountain views, the ideal countryside retreat. As well as the country scenery there are archaeological excavations to discover, hiking and skiing in the winter months.
Driving to Hallstatt from Salzburg Airport will take just over an hour via the A10 and B166, be aware of the changing conditions during winter, especially when travelling further into the countryside.
There are three car parks in the village to use if you are staying in a hotel which does not have parking available. In Car Park P1 a ‘Hotelticket’ is available which gives a special rate for those staying in the village for over 24 hours and a shuttle bus which will take you to your hotel.
