Arik Air is a Nigerian airline that offers a range of flights to 26 destinations with Nigeria, Africa, and worldwide. Founded in 2002, its head office is in Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja. Arik Air’s main hubs are Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Popular destinations include Abuja, Port Harcourt, Johannesburg, and New York. They offer flights from London Heathrow.Arik Air won the “Thisday Airline of the Year” in 2010, 2009 and 2007. It was also the recipient of the “Best Security and Safety Conscious Airline Award” in 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010. How to check in
You can check in for your Arik Air flight online, using the Arik Air smartphone app, or at the airport. For international flights, online and mobile check-in is available from 24 hours until 5 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure time. For regional and domestic flights, online and mobile check-in is available from 24 hours until 3 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure time. If you check in using a laptop or desktop computer, you will need to print off your boarding pass and bring that to the airport. If you check in using a smartphone, you can download the boarding pass to your phone. Alternatively, you can check in at the airport. At Heathrow Airport, Arik Air operates from Terminal 4. Arik Air’s check-in counters open 2 hours prior to departure for domestic flights, 3 hours prior for regional flights, and 4 hours prior for international flights.
Arik Air offers more legroom than most other airlines. In Economy, the seat pitch (distance between your seat and the seat in front) is usually 34 inches, which is 2-4 inches larger than many other international airlines. In Business Class there is more legroom, and the seats can even be folded back to create a bed.
Arik Air does not charge additional fees for booking a flight, but do charge a £50 service fee for flights booked at the Arik Air sales desk at the airport.
Service on board
Arik Air offers an in-flight meal in Economy and Business Class,. For long-haul flights, this is usually a three-course meal and you can choose between African or International cuisine. Soft drinks, beers, and wine are also available. For short-haul flights, a snack and refreshment are normally provided. An in-flight entertainment system containing a selection of Nigerian and International films is also available to both Economy and Business Class passengers.
In 2016, Arik Air was ranked as the third-most punctual airline operating the London to Lagos route out of a total of four. The average delay time was 29 minutes. During that time period, Virgin Atlantic was ranked the most punctual airline on the route with an average delay time of just under 6 minutes.
