Airlines that fly from Southampton to Rome
No airlines currently offer direct flights from Southampton to Rome. You can fly indirect with some airlines including KLM via Amsterdam, Air France via Paris, and BMI Regional via Munich.

Southampton Airport is small and has one terminal. You'll find two shops in the departure hall: World Duty Free and WH Smith. The latter is great for picking up some in-flight reading and snacks. If you like to eat before you fly you can enjoy something to eat at The Globe Bar & Kitchen or The Olive Tree. There's also a Costa, if you'd prefer a quick cake and coffee. Free Wi-Fi is available at the airport for up to four hours. Southampton Airport also has a Priority Lounge, which passengers on all airlines can use for a fee of £15* per adult.
Terminal Information – Arriving
The majority of connecting flights from Southampton land at Rome Fiumicino Airport. This is the city's main airport.
· The Leonardo Express bus goes from the airport to Roma Termini, the city's main train station. One-way tickets cost €15* if you book on the day, or €14* if you book online.
· If you take the suburban train you'll need to hop off and transfer onto a tube or metro. Train tickets cost €8* and a bus/tram/metro ticket is €1.50*.
· The Terravision bus is cheaper, but calls at the airport less frequently. Tickets are €4* if you book online and €6* if you buy on the day.
· Taxis charge a flat rate of €48* to anywhere within Rome's city walls.
· Another option is car hire at Rome Fiumicino Airport.

You need a valid passport to fly from Southampton to Rome. Try to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart.
What to expect in Rome
Rome is one hour ahead of Southampton. The currency in Italy is the Euro (€). Rome is much hotter than Southampton, especially during summer. From June to August the temperature can soar up to (and beyond) 30°C. This is also the high season, and the main sights can be quite crowded with tourists.
