Terminal Information – Departing
Porto Airport has one terminal. The departure lounge has plenty of shops including fashion stores Parfois, Springfield and Sunglass Hut. It's also got a range of fun shops like Ale Hop (gift), Divers (books), Cores Doces (sweets) and Football Gate. If you're hungry or thirsty, don't worry. Porto Airport offers a huge selection of coffee shops, bars, and restaurants. Most specialise in Portuguese meals and snacks, but there's also a Burger King for those who fancy something quick and easy. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal, perfect for last-minute trip research. The airport also has an executive lounge for those who like to escape the hustle and bustle of the departure hall. You can pre-book lounge access by email, or turn up and pay on the day.
Terminal Information – Arriving
The arrivals hall is in Terminal 1. The airport is well served by public transport including buses, underground trains and express shuttles. The metro station is downstairs, and it takes about 20 minutes to reach Saldanha in the city centre. There's a bus stop outside where you can catch any of five public buses. Note that, before you can use public transport in Lisbon ,you need to buy a rechargeable 'Viva Viagem' card from one of the ticket machines. These cost 50* cents (about 40p) and can be used throughout your trip. Tickets on the metro, bus, and tram all cost €1.40* (about £1.10). The Express shuttles charge €3.50* (just under £2.75). There's a taxi rank immediately outside the arrivals area. Prices are reasonable, and it shouldn't cost you more than €10* (about £7.80) to reach Cais do Sodre in the city centre. Car hire at Lisbon Airport is available, perfect for those who are planning to leave the city and head to the Silver Coast.
Practical Information
You don't need a passport to fly on domestic routes within Portugal. You might be asked to show some photographic ID, either when you check in or when you arrive at the boarding gate, so it's a good idea to bring your passport along anyway. We recommend arriving at the airport no later than one hour before your flight is scheduled to depart.
What to expect in Lisbon
Lisbon has a warmer climate than Porto, with an average summer temperature of 24°C. It often soars well above that, so make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen. Although prices aren't much different, Lisbon is slightly more expensive than Porto: especially if you go to any of the trendy new bars or restaurants around the Cais do Sodre area.
