Terminal Information – Departing

This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.

While Bodrum Airport has several places to eat and drink, many travellers find the prices expensive, by typical Airport standards. To save money, eat before you arrive at the airport. Duty-free shopping is available at the airport. For those that want to relax before take-off, Bodrum’s domestic terminal has two paid-access lounges. Here, passengers can enjoy a selection of complimentary snacks and drinks, newspapers, and WiFi access. Turkish Airlines’ CIP Lounge is available for Classic Plus, Business Class and Elit and Elit Plus card holders while the Primeclass Lounge is open to all passengers.

 

Terminal Information – Arriving

Most flights to Istanbul arrive at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, located roughly 20km from Istanbul. There are several ways to get from the airport into the centre of Istanbul. Taxis are available from outside the airport. Istanbul Airport also has a service known as “Welcome Pickups” where tourists are picked up by friendly taxi drivers who are happy to give you a welcoming introduction to their city. Alternatively, Atatürk Airport is on the metro line (marked as “light rail” in the airport). This is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get into the city centre. To use the metro you will need to purchase a token (jeton). These can be purchased at the ticket desk or from the electronic machines (Jetonmatik). Another alternative is to take Havataş, the express bus service, which departs half-hourly and goes to Taksim and Aksaray. Car hire at Istanbul Atatürk Airport is available through companies like Hertz, Avis and Alamo, all of which have desks inside the arrivals terminal.

 

Practical Information

As this is a domestic flight you should aim to arrive at Milas–Bodrum Airport at least 90 minutes before your flight to Istanbul is due to depart and no later than one hour before.

 

What to expect in Istanbul

Istanbul is typically colder than Bodrum. While January temperatures in Bodrum average 12 °C, in Istanbul the average temperature is a much cooler 6 °C. The summer months are also warmer in Bodrum where the average July temperature is 29 °C compared to a cooler 24 °C in Istanbul. Prices for most travel purchases are just slightly more expensive in Istanbul than in Bodrum.
