Terminal Information – Departing
This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.
From Charles de Gaulle: Air France fly from terminal 2F. In the departure lounge you'll find a few places to grab a bite, including the bakery Paul and Columbus Cafe. There are a few shops including Quartz, Cosmopole and Longchamps. There are work stations in the terminal, but you need to pay if you want to access the airport's Wi-Fi.
From Orly: easyJet fly to Geneva from the south (sud) terminal. The terminal has a wide range of places to eat, including French favourites like Brioche Doree and Le Clos Saint-Germain as well as international chains McDonalds and Starbucks. Shops include airport favourites like Buy Paris Duty Free and Relay magazine store and big designer brands like Burberry and Rlaalph Lauren.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Geneva Airport has two exits: one on the French side of the border, and one on the Swiss side. If you want to exit on the French side of the border, you proceed through customs as usual. Instead of leaving the airport, follow the 'destination France' signs from the check-in area. Car hire from Geneva Airport is available from both the French and Swiss sides of the airport, so when you book your vehicle double check the pick-up zone. There's plenty of public transport into Geneva from the Swiss side of the airport. Trains take around five minutes to reach the city centre, and buses take a little longer. Passengers arriving at the airport are entitled to a free Unireso ticket, which can be used on all public transport in the canton for up to 80 minutes. Pick this up in the arrivals hall.
Practical Information
We recommend arriving at the airport around 90 minutes before scheduled departure. Paris and Geneva are both in the Schengen zone, so you don't need your passport to travel between the two cities. If you're a British citizen travelling abroad we recommend bringing your passport anyway. You might be asked to show some photographic ID when you check in or before you board the 'plane.
What to expect in Geneva
The currency in Geneva is the Swiss franc. Switzerland is known for being an expensive country to visit, and Geneva does nothing to correct that. Prices in Geneva are much higher than in Paris. A three course meal for two will cost upwards of €90* (just under £71). Beer and coffee are slightly more expensive too. Geneva experiences similar temperatures to Paris during the summer months, but is a lot colder during the winter. Expect an average temperature of 2°C and lows of -1°C.
