Terminal Information – Arriving

Manchester Airport has three terminals, all within an easy walk of each other. It's one of Britain's biggest airports (in fact it's the biggest if you don't include any London airports). It's well connected to the city centre with public and private transport links. The airport's train station is in between terminals 1 and 2 and you can reach it via the covered walkway from each terminal. If your flight lands at terminal 3 you can get to the station by walking through terminal 1 first. There are frequent direct trains to Manchester Piccadilly train station in the city centre. The airport is also served by the local Metrolink tram network, which is ideal if you're heading into the suburbs. National Express and Stagecoach buses are also available: it's best to pre-book your seat. There's a taxi rank outside each terminal. Car hire from Manchester Airport is a great option if you want to explore the north of England. Remember that traffic in Britain drives on the left hand side of the road, and the majority of cars are manual.

Practical Information

American citizens can enter the UK for up to 90 days, visa free, with the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). However, if you have a criminal record or have been refused entry to the UK before, we recommend applying for a visa. You will need a valid passport. We recommend arriving at the airport at least three hours before your flight is scheduled to depart.
