Amsterdam Airport is located to the south of the city, an 18km drive away with a central location on the A4 and A2 roads you are also in easy reach of The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht.

The airport has one arrivals area in which you will find a number of facilities and onward travel options. There are a choice of car hire companies for those preferring to hire a car from the airport or ticket machines for trains into Amsterdam. The Schiphol Rail Station Is below the airport with trains available on a regular basis with a journey time of 15 minutes. An Airport Express bus, the 197 is available from Amsterdam Airport to the city centre every 15 minutes with a journey time of 25 minutes

What to expect in Amsterdam

The city’s public transport system is considered one of the best ways to get around with trams, train, buses and the Metro system. As a cycling city there are a number of places where you can hire a bicycle for a short period of time.

When it comes to the cost of visiting Amsterdam you will find eating out, accommodation and taxis significantly more expensive than what you would experience in Newcastle. Climate in Amsterdam is generally mild, similar to what you would expect in Newcastle though more rain can be expected.
