What to expect in The Algarve

Don't worry about changing the clock on your phone: Portugal is in the same time zone as the UK. The currency is the Euro (€) and the local language is Portuguese. Most people are happy to speak English: just don't attempt to speak Spanish. The Algarve is famous for its beautiful weather, with more than 300 days of sunshine each year. The cloudy days tend to arrive between October and March, but you're just as likely to get sunshine as you are to get clouds. The high-season (June to September) is when the resorts are at their liveliest. The low season is a good time to visit if you're planning on golfing, hiking, or just want a quiet break with pleasant weather.
