Airlines that fly from Dublin to Tenerife
Tui, Ryanair and Aer Lingus all fly direct to Tenerife-South Airport from Dublin. There are currently no direct flights to Tenerife-North Airport.
Terminal Information – Departing
This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.
Ryanair and Tui flights depart from terminal 1. Aer Lingus flights leave from terminal 2. Both terminals at Dublin Airport have a large shopping and dining area known as The Loop. These have a wide range of shops selling everything from high-end fashion and duty free goodies to cheerful Irish souvenirs. You can stock up on Lyon's Tea and Taytos, or splash out on a few designer must-haves. Remember: the Canary Islands aren't technically a member of the EU, so you can enjoy a fantastic tax-free discount on little luxuries. Dining at the airport is excellent too, with everything on offer from snack bars to fancy restaurants. Wi-Fi access is available throughout both terminals.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Tenerife-South Airport is well served by public transport. Bus 343 connects the island's two airports, and calls at popular beach resorts like Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje and Puerto de la Cruz. Bus number 11 goes to the island's capital, Santa Cruz, and also calls in at Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. Another option is bus 450 which serves coastal resorts Los Cristianos, Playa de las Americas, Costa Adeje and Granadilla. One of the most popular ways to get around the island is to hire a car. Lots of international car hire brands have desks in the arrivals hall. Skyscanner makes it easy to compare car hire at Tenerife South Airport. The airport also has a taxi rank where you can take a metered cab to anywhere on the island. Fares are cheaper between 6am to 10pm Monday to Friday.
Practical Information
You need a valid passport to fly to Tenerife from Dublin. Aim to arrive at the airport no later than 90 minutes before your flight is due to depart.
What to expect in Tenerife
Nicknamed 'the island of eternal spring', Tenerife is a fantastic year-round holiday destination and an excellent choice if you're looking for some winter sun. Temperatures are warm all year round, with an average of 24°C in July and 17°C in January. The island is in the same time zone as Ireland and the local currency is the Euro (€). Tenerife is a nicely priced destination too. You can expect to pay about 40% less for a three course meal compared to Dublin prices, and about 60% less for a pint of local beer.
