Budapest Airport
Passengers travelling on flights from Budapest to Prague should arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before the flight departure time – check-in desks close 30-40 minutes prior to your flight's scheduled departure.
Budapest Airport is Hungary's largest airport, although it only has one terminal, terminal 2, which is divided into two halves. The check-in counters are located at Terminals 2A and 2B on the departure floors. Passengers flying with Czech Airlines should head for terminal 2A, online check-in also available.
Both parts of the terminal have a range of shops. Shops in terminal 2A include Relay, Hard Rock, Sunglass Center and Victoria's Secrets. Dining options include Caffe Ritazza and the Camden Food Company.
Passengers can take advantage of 2 hours of free Wi-Fi, available throughout the terminal building.
Budapest Airport has 4 executive lounges to choose from, including the Platinum Business Aviation Service Lounge, SkyCourt Lounge, Menzies Lounge and the Mastercard Airport Lounge. All lounges have a bar serving complementary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks, mobile charging facilities and business facilities including free internet and work areas as well as a TV.
Prague Airport
Prague Airport is located 20km north-west of the city centre (around 30 minutes by car) and has three terminals. Flights from Budapest (and Schengen zone countries) arrive and depart from Terminal 2, where there is no passport control.
To travel from Prague Airport to Prague city centre, you can take a shuttle, public bus or taxi – there is no direct train or metro. If you wish to take the metro, you can get a bus to the nearest metro stop (Nadrazi Veleslavin on Line A) which takes about 25 minutes.
The Airport Express Bus runs every 30 minutes from 6.30am until 10pm and provides a reliable and affordable connection to the city centre. For those who prefer a door-to-door service, you can pre-book the Airport Shuttle Service, which costs 290 CZK per person for a shared service (450 CZK for 2 or 480CZK for 3) in an 8-seater vehicle. A private door-to-door service can be booked for 550CZK for up to 4 or 780CZK for up to 8 people. Departures take place every 30 minutes.
If you decide to travel by taxi, it's best to use a fixed price service as some cab drivers have a reputation for overcharging tourists.
