Terminal Information – Departing
Although it's Romania's largest airport, Bucharest International Airport only has one terminal. There's a selection of four coffee shops (and one restaurant) before security. After security there's a small selection of cafes including Refuel, which has tablets connected to the internet for public use. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal. Shops include PressOne (books and magazines), BestValue Express (duty free and souvenirs), Romanian Wines and Art&Craft Express (both self explanatory).
Terminal Information – Arriving
This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.
At Gatwick: the airport's train station is located in the south terminal. There's a free shuttle from the north terminal in case this is where you land. The Gatwick Express is the fastest way to reach the city, but regional trains offer a cheaper alternative for budget travellers. Alternative transport methods include coaches, taxis and car rental.
At Heathrow: TAROM flights land at terminal 4 while British Airways land at terminal 5. The Heathrow Express is the fastest way to the city: this doesn't call at terminal 4 so TAROM passengers will need to take the free transfer shuttle to terminals 2&3. The Piccadilly Line on the tube is the cheapest way to reach the city: this calls at every terminal. Car hire, taxis and shuttle buses are available too.
At Luton: free shuttle buses run between the airport and the Luton Parkway Train Station. Trains from here to London take about 40 minutes, while the shuttle takes 10 minutes. National Express, easyBus and Green Line coaches also run from the airport. Again, car hire is available.
At Stansted: there's a train station underneath the arrivals hall. Express and regular train services to London are both available. Alternatively you can pre-book your transfer with a coach company like National Express. Car hire and taxis are available for those who prefer not to take public transport.
Practical Information
A valid passport is required for flights to London from Bucharest. Try to arrive at the airport no later than 90 minutes before departure.
