Airlines that fly from Athens to Santorini

Aegean Airlines, Ryanair and Volotea all fly direct from Athens-International Airport to Santorini.

Terminal Information – Departing

Athens Airport only has one terminal for departures, split into two areas: Schengen and Non-Schengen. Flights to Santorini depart from the Schengen Area, Area B. The airport has its own large shopping centre, which boasts more than 50 shops and 14 places to eat. Shops include designer brands like Juicy Couture, Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss and Massimo Dutti. There's a children's play area designed for 1-8 year olds on the second floor of the terminal. Baby rooms for feeding and changing are located throughout the terminal. The airport also has a range of permanent and temporary exhibitions so you can enjoy a bit of art and culture before you fly. There are four executive lounges in the Schengen Area. These are run by Aegean Airlines, Goldair Handling, Lufthansa and Skyserv. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal for up to 45 minutes.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Santorini Airport has one terminal. If you want to take public transport to your accommodation you will need to take the bus from the airport to Thira bus station. Single tickets cost €2.20* (about £1.65) and the trip takes around 20 minutes. From the bus station you can find onward transportation to other destinations on the island. Check with your hotel before you arrive, as many offer free shuttles to and from the airport. It's also possible to arrange private transfers, or take a taxi from outside the terminal. Cabs are metered but you can expect to pay about €10-14 (£7.60-£10.60) for a taxi into Thira. Ask the driver for an estimate to avoid any nasty surprises. Practical Information

You don't need a passport for domestic flights in Greece, but if you're a British citizen travelling abroad we recommend keeping your passport on you just in case. Aim to arrive at the airport at least one hour before scheduled departure.

What to expect in Santorini

Santorini has a milder climate than Athens. During the summer you can expect an average temperature of 26°C (compared to 29°C  in the Greek capital) and in winter the mercury hovers around 12°C  (compared to 10°C in Athens). Your money won't go as far in Santorini as it would in Athens, as the cost of food and drink is generally higher.
